These are some of the links that I used for the planning and research of my own music magazine. It was important that I looked at websites of other music magazines as it will help me to explore what kind of information is put in magazines and also their codes and conventions. e.g. I learnt how magazines seem to stick to a colour to make a brand identity for themselves.

Preliminary research

This is some of the research that I did for my magazine. It was particullarly important that I complete this research for a number of reasons. Firstly it allows me to figure out what codes and conventions magazines use to become succesfull and distribute products to their target market. An example of something I learnt whilst researching other products similar to my own is that all of the music magazines have a clear, readable and instantly recognizable. The masthead allows them to create their own personal identity amongst other music magazines in the business. Another code and convention of music magazines that I learnt is that they ususally have a main image of what the magazines issue will focus on. This tells the potential consumer/buyer of the product what the information included in the magazine will be about and furthermore suggests to the audience what genre the magazine is based upon. From the research I have gathered it is clear that music magazines stick to the code and convention of staying to 2-3 fonts and colours. This allows them to establish a brand name and identity.
